Maidstone Borough Council is actively working to increase its housing stock, with a focus on both affordable and private rented housing and Clairglow is delighted to be able to support Maidstone in their endeavours. We are currently providing mechanical advice and support with their new housing purchases as well as providing ongoing servicing and breakdown provision for their increasing housing stock.
The council has approved plans to build 1,000 new affordable homes and expand its private rented sector portfolio by an additional 250 homes. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to address the borough’s identified housing need, which requires an estimated 1,157 new homes per year.
Like all Councils across the Country, Maidstone have a number of plans in place to tackle housing shortages:

- Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA):The SHMA identifies a need for 1,157 new homes per year in Maidstone, with 48% of those needing to be affordable.

- Addressing Housing Need:The council recognizes that the identified housing need is higher than in previous years and is working to meet this need to ensure all housing needs are met by 2045 according to Maidstone Borough Council.

- Meeting Population Growth:The projected population growth in Maidstone, particularly among couples and various age groups, is a factor driving the need for increased housing.

- Custom and Self-Build:The council is also considering proposals for custom and self-build housing to meet the needs of residents.
